Almost major properties are available with Mask texture.

Arktoon-Shaders

You'll need to search for cubed unity shaders and download them. Then in unity, you can drag and drop the cubed shaders file, or import it as an asset. Then go to the materials folder of the avatar you downloaded, and select the material s. You will see on the right, the shader that is active. You can then use the drop down menu on the right to select the cubed flat lit toon shader.

I'll give a brief rundown of what this shader can do, and what it looks like!

Update : If you have issues where the shader does not look correct, or ignores switching lighting modes, reset your material. This is caused by the shader trying to inherit properties of your previous, it usually shouldn't be an issue, but sometimes it'll happen.

Proper transparency support, along with options to "fake" transparency so that shadows can still be received. Custom Shadow Ramp support - Vertical or Horizontal both work. I'll post an example and a bit of info on everything below, in the same order as listed above. NOTE: Features that are added in updates will be listed below this list, next to the changelog. Simple Scratch Pattern Weaved Pattern The rimlight and specular reflections are stylized and fully customizable.

You can choose to have a sharp or smooth rimlight, change the width, etc. The reflections pattern can be changed, alongside the tiling and the smoothness of the material, and intensity of the reflections.

Dynamic Shadow Receiving: This is a real-time light only feature, basically if there is a light source that casts shadows, and an object between you an that light source, you will receiving those shadows, but stylized.

Transparency: There are a few options for transparency using my shader. Standard Fade and Transparent, which is used as you would usually expect from transparent objects. However, there is a drawback to standard transparency in that it cannot receive real time shadowing as discussed above. I've included a few options to help combat this, but they are by no means perfect. They include the following: Dithered Transparency : This is essentially a cutout shader, but it uses math to cut out a bunch of pixels, basically think of this as cutting out a grid in different patterns, either on or off.

I have released an all new system with some bugfixes, and it will now work for a wide variety of shaders, from everyone's favorite Standard to that weird star nest effect. The effect can now be generated in the little context menu dropdown next to a shader or material.

The package is mostly an editor script, and a few example shaders as well as a Drop Shadow shader to show a shadow behind your flat avatar. Because I want to avoid choosing favorites, the github project includes only a script to 2d-ify shaders from the context menu " Make 2d Lyuma Waifu2d ". Feel free to apply the effect to Insert your own favorite Toon shader here. This menu button will modify your material's shader, but will leave the original shader around.

Make sure to set these to exactly the same numbers on all materials on your avatar. If they use the same shader, I recommend shift clicking all your materials in the inspector and editing them together. If they use different shaders, unity won't let you so you will need to keep track of the numbers yourself. Here is a sample from below.

Yes, as a bonus, it mostly prevents creepy angles. To gain the classic billboard flat effect, you can turn off Lock 2d axis.

The flat shader with Lock 2d axis turned off looks stunning in VR, but this mode renders the effect largely invisible in mirrors and for people not in VR.
